Cease and Desist

To Whom It May Concern

After the polls closed and the votes were tallied in the last two Los Altos city council elections, I expressed my relief that a particular candidate lost the race. These opinions and writings were mine alone: not my wife's, not my neighbor's, and not those of my neighbor's dog. Furthermore, these comments were made after the elections in question, meaning that they could not have had any impact on the results.

Why my reluctance to see this particular candidate elected? Because the candidate in question spearheaded his own email campaign when Francis LaPoll ran for a third term in a previous election. The candidate about whom I have written argued that Mr. LaPoll shouldn't be running, even though he was legally entitled to do so because of a loophole in the election laws. Altough not perfect, I felt that Mr. LaPoll was an excellent city councilman and the city would have been well served by him for a third term. Mr. LaPoll went on to lose that election by a slim margin of a few hundred votes. Could the email campaign against Mr. LaPoll described above have changed the outcome of that election? No one can know for sure, but it sure left me with a bad feeling about the candidate I've written about in this blog in the past.

Hopefully this puts to rest any questions about the source of and reasons behind the comments about this candidate. I will henceforth cease and desist posting anything to this blog.
